With rocksteady melodies bolstered by her distinctive voice, the acoustic songs of Elaine Palmer – both musically and thematically – could not be crafted by anybody else. Her music carries the emotions of a childhood spent crisscrossing the Atlantic, in equal measures evoking rural, small-town England and the wistful wails synonymous with the American south.

Built from two separate worlds, Elaine Palmer’s repertoire appears endearingly familiar yet remains fresh, existing – as goes the title of her 2021 album – in ‘The Land in Between.’ Perhaps this is where Miss Palmer is most comfortable, perhaps in delivering the music of her heart she can align herself with her true home – somewhere between North Yorkshire and Arizona.

And it’s in this promised land where Elaine can be frank and honest lyrically, expressing a wide range of conflicting emotions: angst; anger; spite and spirit – wrapped in a country twang that has spurred comparisons with Emmylou Harris (RnR Magazine) and Stevie Nicks (NE Volume). Elaine’s musical journey takes her to the Ship Isis, Sunderland on the 19th of September 2024, where she will unleash her passionate, personal stage performance that has earned her so much acclaim.
