Celadore is the alias of Sunderland born-and-raised musician Rachael Small. The name is drawn from the words of legendary linguist and author J.R.R Tokien: “Out of all the endless combinations of the English language, Cellar Door is the most beautiful.”
A vocalist and songwriter by trade with over 7 years experience in the performance industry, Small has surrounded herself with a band of like-minded and talented folk with the aim of bringing to life the piano ballads that have been waiting in the wings for over two years.
The first of Celadore’s tracks, ‘Dawning’ (released 5/4/24) is a cinematic alt-rock track, boasting influences from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, The Police, and Evanescence alongside an almost James Bond-esque tension-building intro. Like most of the Celadore songs, the debut was written about the struggles experienced by loved ones, and the tireless search for remedies and reasons for those ills.
“‘Dawning’ is a glimmer of hope; it’s about finding beauty in the world and all she creates,” Small explains “It embodies the frustration of watching someone trying to change to please another, being unkind to themselves and becoming unhappy, while blaming the world around them for how they feel rather than taking responsibility. ‘Dawning’ is about finding peace in difficult situations and knowing the world can offer beautiful things like nature, love, and friendship to keep us holding on.”
Celadore wants to connect people around her, through the universal common language of music, bringing real experiences to life through music and finding a platform to share them with others. With a string of releases to follow and the aim of taking the live show far and wide, 2024 promises to be an exciting year for Celadore, starting with a special hometown headline show at The Ship Isis on Friday 12th April to celebrate the release of ‘Dawning’.
